Regard Magazine’s Man Of Style
You’re one of the most recognized DJ/ Producers of our time. When did you know that this is what you wanted to do and how did you get your start?
In a way, I stumbled into this world. Although, before I was producing dance music and DJing, I was a musician and singer in numerous bands so it came as a natural transition. The bridge between that world and the world I am in now is and has been my record label Dim Mak. I started DJing because I started throwing Dim Mak parties in Los Angeles promoting my brand.
The music industry is constantly changing and evolving. How have you adjusted with the advancement of technology and social media?
I love staying connected to my fans and my friends. It’s not just to let people know about what I’m doing and what music is coming out but because I enjoy it. That is the future. The power lies in the artist more than it’s ever been. We have usurped institutions of power like major labels to now controlling our art and how it’s distributed.
We’re sure that you’ve seen it all. But, what’s the craziest situation you’ve had to deal with while performing?
Usually, taming the bouncers to be nicer to the crowd. Sometimes, I’d have to stop my set to tell them to chill out.
You look very dapper in your REGARD Magazine fashion layout as the Man Of Style. Who are some of your favorite fashion designers?
My favorite designers are Rick Owens, Diet Butcher Slim Skin, Yasuhiro Mihara, Federation, Dim Mak Designers, Hiroshi fujiwara, Ksubi and Jeremy Scott.
What projects are you working on now and in the near future?
My next singles from my album Wonderland are Steve Jobs, Emergency, Control Freak, Ooh and more. I just filmed my latest video for my song Beat Down with Iggy Azalea. I have tons more music and new fresh tees from Dimmak.com
